Description

Application

Nexans ENERGEX® XHHW-2 is a copper conductor, with cross-linked polyethylene insulation for use in conduit and other raceways.  It is used for services, feeders and other applications recognized by the NEC.  XHHW-2 is rated at a conductor temperature of 90ºC in wet and dry locations.  Sizes #14 AWG to #4/0 AWG are approved as Type SIS.  Sizes #1/0 AWG and larger in all colors (#4 AWG and larger in green) are cable tray (CT) rated.

Nexans XHHW-2 conductors are LEAD FREE.

    

Construction

Conductor: 
Annealed soft bare copper per ASTM B3, B787 and B8

Insulation:
Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation per UL 44

 

Specifications

  • Nexans ENERGEX® Type XHHW-2  meets or exceeds UL standard 44, ASTM B3, ASTM B8, ASTM B787, Federal Specification A-A-59544 and the requirements of the National Electrical Code.  Nexans ENERGEX® Type XHHW-2  meets or exceeds the requirements of NEMA WC70/ICEA S-95-658 and NEC Article 310.13.  
  • Conductor sizes #1/0 AWG and larger (#4 AWG and larger in green) are rated for CT use. 
  • Sunlight resistant in black #8 AWG and larger. 
  • #14 - 10 AWG are available in 10 distinct colors for identification purposes. 
  • Sizes #14 AWG to #4/0 AWG rated SIS.
  • Nexans XHHW-2 is LEAD FREE. 
  • Voltage rating - 600 Volts.

60°C - When terminated to equipment for circuits rated 100 amperes or less or marked for 
conductor sizes #14 through #1 AWG.
75°C - When terminated to equipment for circuits rated over 100 amperes or marked for 
conductors larger than size #1 AWG.
90°C - Wet or dry locations.  For ampacity derating purposes.
 * Ampacities shown are for general use as specified by the National Electrical Code, Article 310.15.
