PTFE / Polyimide Composite tape wrap insulation systems were commercialized in late 1992. This invention greatly advanced aerospace and aircraft wire and cable technology, especially in thermal/mechanical performance and weight savings. AS22759/80-92 and NEMA WC27500 are the two dominant aerospace specifications which respectively define the PTFE/Polyimide composite insulated primary wire and cable products.
