Outside Plant Riser LSZH with Armor-Tek
Description
Berk-Tek’s Outside Plant Loose Tube Low Smoke Zero Halogen fiber optic cables with Armor-Tek™ interlock armor are designed for installation in harsh enviroments such as direct burial, and conduit and pathways that are subjected to wide temperature variations. The Outside Plant product line offers 2 - 144 fibers per cable. These cables are thoroughly tested and verified to Telcordia GR-20 and ICEA-640 for outside cabling systems.

Description
Berk-Tek's Outdoor Loose Tube LZSH cables with Armor-Tek Interlock Armor are available in multimode, single-mode and GIGAlite™ fibers.
Construction
Gel-filled tubes containing up to 12, 250 µm, individually colored fibers. Aluminum interlock armor covers an inner cable core.
Outdoor Consideration
Berk-Tek recommends that loose tube cables be utilized in an outside plant installation environment. Loose tube cables are especially recommended if the interbuilding conduit system is above the frost line and likely to fill with water.
Applications
Armor-Tek fiber cables can be used in any of the following installation environments: indoor/outdoor, in backbones, between closets and in fiber to the desk. Armor-Tek is a viable and cost effective solution for applications where a pathway is beyond its full ratio, for areas where extra physical security is a concern, in fast track installations, between buildings, direct buried, or in trays.
Berk-Tek's Outdoor Loose Tube LSZH fiber optic cable is intended for all high speed data applications, including:
- 10BASE-FL
- 100BASE-SX/100BASE-FX
- ATM 155/ATM 622
- 1000BASE-SX/1000BASE-LX
- Fibre Channel 1.062/2.125
- 10GBASE-SR/SW
- 10GBASE-LX4
- 40/100 GbE
Features
- Low Smoke Zero Halogen polymer used for jacket and loose tubes
- High tensile strength, crush resistant and small diameter design.
- Single-mode, multimode and hybrid design options available.
- All dielectric design.
- Steel interlock armored available.
- Fully water-blocked core using dry water blocking system.
Benefits
- Provides for greater pulling distances thus reducing installation time.
- Eliminates the need for conduit or plenum innerduct
- Significant cost savings in both materials and labor - up to 25%
- Accommodates last minute relocations or pathway changes
- Provides a higher concentration of cables in an area than conduit
- Can be installed in campus environments due to the durability and indoor/outdoor rating of the cable
- Armor provides crush protection and protection from rodent attacks
