Description

Application

Nexans  ENERGEX® 8000 SER is type SE, Style R cable, used as an above ground service entrance cable, a panel feeder and in branch circuits.  The cable is rated at 600 volts and 90ºC for use in wet and dry locations in accordance with NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 Article 338.

Nexans SER cables are LEAD FREE and RoHS compliant.

      

Construction

Conductor: 
Compact stranded AA-8000 series aluminum alloy (ACM) per ASTM B801 or B836. #8 AWG is solid AA-8000 series aluminum alloy per ASTM B800 and B801 (8 AWG is solid).

Insulation:
Color coded cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE).

Assembly:
Insulated conductors are cabled with the bare ground  wire.  A flame retardant fiberglass reinforced binder tape assembles the core in a circular configuration.

Jacket:
Sunlight resistant, LEAD FREE, flame retardant,  gray polyvinyl chloride (PVC) material.

 

Conductor Identification:

Color coded: Black, White and Red

*60°C – When terminated to equipment for circuits rated 100 amperes or less or marked for conductor sizes 14 through 1 AWG.
75°C – When terminated to equipment for circuits rated over 100 amperes or less or marked for conductors larger than 1 AWG.
90°C – Wet or dry locations.  For ampacity derating purposes.

Notes:
• Where stated, "nominal" and "approximate" values are provided for information purposes only and are subject to standard 
manufacturing tolerances.
• Ampacities for 8, 6 and 4 AWG are in accordance with NEC 2008 Table 310.16 or NEC 2011 Table 310.15(B)(16) for 
aluminum conductors in a raceway or direct bured at 30°C ambient temperature, and a conductor temperature of 90°C.
• Ampacities for 2 AWG and larger are in accordance with NEC 2008 Table 310.15(B)(6) or 
NEC 2011 Table 310.15(B)(7) for aluminum conductors.
