Description

Application

ENERGEX® MC 120 cables may be used for branch, feeder and service for distribution in commercial, industrial, and multi-residential construction in accordance with NEC Article 330.  They are suitable for installation in motion picture studios, theaters, and places of assembly (100 people or more) per NEC Articles 230.43, 300.22(C), 330, 396, 518, 520, 530 and 645.  These cables may be installed in approved raceways and as open runs of cable on a messenger.  They may be installed exposed, concealed or in cable tray and may be run in spaces used for environmental air in accordance with NEC Article 300.22(C) ONLY.

Nexans MC 120 wire is LEAD FREE and RoHS compliant.

  

Construction

Conductor
Solid conductors and the wires for stranded conductors are soft annealed copper to ASTM B3.

Insulation:
Colored PVC/Nylon type THHN in accordance with UL 83,  flame retardant, meeting UL VW-1 flame test for sizes #14 to #1 AWG. 
Colored cross-linked polyethylene type XHHW-2 per UL 44 for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger.

Ground Wire:
Bare copper, sized in accordance with NEC and UL, with green THHN insulation (green XHHW-2 for 1/0 and larger).

Assembly:
Conductors are cabled with grounding wires. A marker tape/core protection tape combination assembles the core in an essentially round configuration.

Armor:
Interlocking aluminum tape armor applied directly over the core.

• Where stated, "nominal" and "approximate" values are provided for information purposes 
only and are subject to standard manufacturing tolerances.
• Ampacities are in accordance with NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 Article 310.15, which are based
on NEC 2008 Table 310.16 or NEC 2011 Table 310.15(B)(16) for conductors in a raceway or 
direct buried at 30°C ambient temperature.  Ampacities for cables having more than three 
conductors have been derated per NEC 2008 Table 310.15(B)(2)(a) or NEC 2011 Table 310.15(B)(3)(a).
• For correction factors for different ambient temperatures and ampacities at different conduct 
temperature ratings see NEC 2008 Table 310.16 or NEC 2011 Table 310.15(B)(16).
• NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 Article 240.4(D) required that over current protection not exceed 
15 amperes for 14 AWG, 20 amperes for 12 AWG, and 30 amperes for 10 AWG copper 
conductors after any correction factors for ambient temperature and number of conductors 
have been applied.  Exceptions to this may be covered in NEC 2008 and NEC 2011 
Article 240.4(E) through (G).
