Skarv

Project description:

• The Skarv field is at a depth of 325-375 m, some 200 km west of Sandnessjøen. This is a BP project in the Norwegian Sea to be completed in 2011.
• The DEH system is installed on the Idun pipeline, which is approximately 13 km long, and tied back to the world’s most advanced FPSO, Skarv, the largest of its kind in the Norwegian Sea.    
   

Challenges of the project:

• New material requirements and specifications for production and installation of mechanical equipment. 
• New customer and new interfacing parties.
   

Nexans' solution: Pre-assembly of equipment at the Halden factory. This yields major time savings at the installation offshore. Spooling of the Piggyback Cable direct from the factory to installation reels. Supply of equipment for continuous condition-monitoring of piggyback cables.
