New Motionline® Drag chain cables for ambient temperatures of up to 125°C
Oil- and chemical-resistant automation cables from Nexans for use in glass industry handling systems or metal and plastics processing
Nuremberg, April 5, 2016 – The new MOTIONLINE® automation drag chain cables from Nexans meet the requirements of both the glass industry and metal and plastics processing for high temperature resistance. Whereas most drag chain cables are designed for ambient temperatures of up to 60°C, these new automation cables can be used at temperatures of up to 125°C. Since standard thermoplastics become brittle when exposed to such high temperatures, Nexans has developed a special material for insulating the wires and sheath. Its abrasion resistance is similar to that of polyurethane and is equally resistant to oil and chemicals. The new material is also highly flexible and optimised for continuous movement.
“The development of our heat-resistant MOTIONLINE® cables was initialized by one of our customers,” says Philipp Teepe, Marketing Manager Automation at Nexans. “We are proud to fulfil such exceptional requirements in close collaboration with our customers. Customers profit from a better solution and for Nexans’ R+D teams it’s always an opportunity to learn about market needs and final applications.”
The new MOTIONLINE® cables are certified by Underwriters Laboratories (AWM) and are available as servo, motor or encoder cables for common automation applications. On request, the cable design can be adapted to specific connector systems.
