New Holland, PA – March 2, 2006 – Copper and fiber optic cabling technology and solutions leader Berk-Tek, A Nexans Company was awarded a TL 9000 Code of Practice for Quality Systems certificate from Underwriter Laboratories Inc. ® (UL) for its New Holland, PA factory.
The TL 9000 certification is the most recent demonstration of Berk-Tek’s commitment to ongoing quality improvement. In addition to the manufacturing quality standards this designation represents, the program will also enhance Berk-Tek’s customer service.
TL 9000 compliance requires the tracking of key performance indicators like on time delivery in full, response time to meet customer needs, and reducing the time to market for new products and services. This certification follows the 2002 compliance to the ISO 9001:2000 standard, which was completed well in advance of the 2003 deadline.
The TL 9000 certification is another example of Berk-Tek’s continued commitment to quality and to further establish its reputation as an industry leader. The manufacturer of shielded and unshielded twisted pair cables for LAN, storage area networks and campus environments recognized the need for a more robust quality management process that directly related to the needs and requirements of its end-users.
"The ISO standard provides us with general requirements for designing and manufacturing our products, but it is not defined specifically for the Telecom industry," said Charles Clauser, Quality Manager at Berk-Tek. "Our TL 9000 scope is the design and manufacture of communications cable products specifically for Telecommunications applications," he said.
