What is CIGRE?
CIGRE (International Conference on Large High Voltage Electric Systems) is the largest international organization dealing with electric power systems. It has more than 3600 individual and 840 collective members from 83 countries. The organization is divided into 15 Study Committees (SC), each with several Working Groups (WG).
The Valley Group, Inc. has been an active participant in the activities of SC22 (Transmission Lines) and especially its WG B2 (Electrical Properties of Conductors), which is the most significant international organization dealing with such topics as ampacity, real-time ratings, and sags of transmission lines. Tapani Seppa is the official U.S. representative in SC22, and has been the U.S. member of WG B2 for several years. For more information about CIGRE activities, contact Tap Seppa or visit the CIGRE website.
The full conference of CIGRE meets every even year in Paris, France. Each SC has a full day session for the presentation of selected papers.
