The FASTCAT Rapid Delivery program is intended to serve as the fastest possible way to correct many reliability deficiencies of the transmission network.
Quick and economical solutions to transmission reliability have become even more important with new mandatory regulations put into effect in FERC Order 693 on June 18, 2007, which allows ines of up to $1,000,000 per day per violation.
Real time transmission line ratings provide by far the fastest and most economical solution to increasing transmission line thermal ratings while ensuring reliability, done at a fraction of the cost and installation time of physical upgrades or line construction.
An in-depth discussion can be found in the following white paper written by TVG's founder, Tapani O. Seppa: "Reliability and real time transmission line ratings."
The FASTCAT Rapid Delivery program
The objective of the FASTCAT Rapid Delivery program is to ship standard CAT-1 Transmission LIne Monitoring Systems to you within 30 days ARO and to have real time ratings fully operational within 60 days ARO. In addition to the inherently fast solution provided by real-time ratings, FASTCAT guarantees even quicker delivery by providing pre-stocked modules.
The FASTCAT program requires our receipt of prompt technical information covering the basic design information for the line, such as line profile, rating assumptions, conductor type and available nearby communications locations. You will also need to schedule the installation of the equipment in conjunction with our engineering staff within 15 days ARO, to ensure the availability of our engineers to assist all FASTCAT customers on-site.
Standard CAT-1 systems covered by the FASTCAT Rapid Deployment guarantee are defined as:
-
Up to 8 CAT-1 Transmission Line Monitoring Systems
-
Each CAT-1 includes 1-2 standard load cells (10,000 lb. or 25,000 lb. rated, with 80 ft. cable), 1-2 Net Radiation Sensors with 20 ft. cable, 1 ambient temperature sensor with 10 ft. cable; no additional custom sensors
