Abstract of "Increasing Transmission Capability" Seminar
Transmission line loadings are increasing at an accelerating rate, while new line construction is stil difficult. Not surprisingly, then, operation of lines at higher loads is economically very attractive today, if it can be done within acceptable risk limits. The seminar will teach you how to effectively select "low cost" uprating options to economically increase your line capabilities and extend the life of your present transmission assets. Many recent findings are important for determining your line ratings and redefining your rating standards in a way which is appropriate to the new paradigms. Topics covered include:

- Calculation of high temperature sags taking into account new knowledge of conductor behavior and ruling span errors;
- Specific up-to-date solutions for these new problems;
