This 4-hour training session will look at unique design and installation considerations from start to finish.
Presenters will give an overview in a lecture style, but then involve the attendees with four hands-on exercises:
• On the TR end – punching down cable to a patch panel
• On the device end – installing a plug to the horizontal cable
• Testing – testing the modified link
• Physical Infrastructure – set up the cabling system from the switch to the
camera
• Camera set up – Viewing the cameras through the video management
software on laptops provided
The presentation will cover the following topics:
- Understanding the demands and differences of IP video surveillance system types and functions
- Guidelines on selecting the most appropriate cable (fiber or copper, plenum or riser, indoor or outdoor)
- Integrating PoE through copper and fiber (includes schematics)
- Following best industry standard guidelines for installation (pathways, components, termination)
- Existing standards and upcoming standards -- Issues that are not currently addressed by the existing TIA standards, but are being addressed by the ANSI BICSI ESS Standards Committee (such as direct attach – plug vs. jack)
- Testing overview of different tools and test procedures (difference between certifying, verifying and simple wiremap tests). Includes copper and fiber
- Camera technology – analog vs. IP
- Why IP
- Best installation practices and procedures for installing IP cameras
