Rail - High-Speed Railway Networks

Plans for high-speed rail in the United States date back to the High-Speed Ground Transportation Act of 1965, with various state and federal proposals also in place. Despite being one of the world's first countries to get high-speed trains (the Metroliner service in 1969), it has failed to spread in popularity. Currently there is one high-speed rail project underway in California and another proposed in Texas. As the US population increases and concerns over environmental impact become more pronounced, it's possible high-speed rail will gain popularity in the near future.
